Intravitreal Antiangiogenic Injection
Intravitreal antiangiogenic injections aim, among other things, to counter the abnormal growth of blood vessels in the retina, the main cause of wet AMD and other eye diseases. By delivering antiangiogenic medicines directly into the vitreous (the gel that fills the inside of the eye), the treatment inhibits new blood vessel formation and prevents bleeding and fluid buildup in the macula, the central region of the retina responsible for central vision. It is an innovative and effective treatment for various eye conditions, particularly wet AMD, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and myopic neovascularization. The technique can prevent vision loss and improve visual acuity, providing a better quality of life for patients. Multiple injections each year are needed to achieve the desired benefit.
