Eye Condition
Blepharospasm
Blepharospasm is a neurological condition characterized by involuntary, repetitive closure of the eyelids, caused by excessive contractions of the orbicularis oculi muscle. It may occur on its own (essential blepharospasm) or alongside abnormal movements in other parts of the face (hemifacial spasm).
Some Symptoms
- Uncontrollable, excessive blinking.
- Involuntary eye closure, with the eyes remaining fully or partially closed for extended periods.
- Difficulty opening the eyes.
- Sensitivity to light (photophobia).
- Dry eyes.
- In severe cases, significant visual impairment due to the inability to keep the eyes open.
