Eye Condition
Cataract
A cataract is an eye condition characterized by the gradual loss of transparency of the crystalline lens, the eye’s natural lens. This clouding reduces the passage of light and impairs vision. The most common cause is natural aging, but cataracts may also be congenital (present from birth) or result from conditions such as uveitis and diabetes, the use of certain medicines (corticosteroids), or eye injuries.
Some Symptoms
- Blurred or cloudy vision.
- Sensitivity to light (photophobia) and glare, especially at night.
- A temporary improvement in near vision (in some cases).
